CARLSBAD, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV men’s golf team ended its season of competition tied for 23rd, while sophomore Zach Little remained alive after Sunday’s third round at the NCAA Championships at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa (Par 72, 7,548 yards).

A LITTLE HOPE: Little heads into Monday with a chance at a playoff to decide the final individual spot for the final round of stroke play. His hopes to see a potential individual playoff, scheduled for Monday at approximately 8:30 a.m. PT on the 16th hole, are contingent upon Georgia Tech beating Wake Forest in the team playoff at 8 a.m. PT to make the 15-team cut for the fourth round.

REBEL ROUNDUP: Little, whose day included an eagle on hole No. 2 and four birdies, turned in the Rebels’ best score for the second straight day with a 1-over 73, leaving him in a tie for 36th at 3-over 219 and a chance to play another 18 holes. Next in the Scarlet & Gray lineup, senior Caden Fioroni wrapped his four-year UNLV career with a tied-for-71st finish at 7-over 223. Junior Wyatt Plattner (+9) tied for 87th, senior Trevor Lewis (+13) had his weekend-best round (+2) to tie for 116th in his career finale and junior Brett Sawaia (+17) tied for 135th.

The Rebels (+32) strung together their best 18-hole stretch (+11), but couldn’t break through their same 23rd-place position they held each of the first two days of national championship stroke play.
