COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – New Mexico’s Johnnie Clark was tabbed the Mountain West Men’s Golfer of the Week, while Nevada’s Riki Matsumoto collected the MW Men’s Golf Freshman of the Week.
MEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK
JOHNNIE CLARK, NEW MEXICO
Junior, Mesa, Arizona/Oklahoma State
- Earned his first collegiate victory at the ASU Thunderbird Collegiate, while leading the Lobos to the program’s second team first-place finish this season.
- In a field of 60 competitors, recorded a 14-under par mark with round scores of 67, 66 and 66.
- His 199 strokes across the three rounds is a career best.
MEN’S FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
RIKI MATSUMOTO, NEVADA
Freshman, Uccle, Belgium
- Helped the Wolf Pack to a third-place team finish in a field of 19 programs at the El Macero Classic.
- Recorded a seventh-place finish among 100 golfers.
- Registered 72.6 stroke average with a total of 218, two-over par.
- Notched a hole-in-one during round one on the 238-yard third hole.
