CARLSBAD, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) – Junior Wyatt Plattner headlined the UNLV men’s golf team’s performances in Friday’s opening round at the NCAA Championships at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa (Par 72, 7,548 yards).

REBEL ROUNDUP: Plattner made an eagle (hole No. 11) and added a birdie on the front nine – the course’s back nine – as part of his 2-over 74 round that places him in a tie for 58th through 18 holes. The rest of the Rebel lineup follows right behind their counterpart with seniors Caden Fioroni (+3) and Trevor Lewis (+3), junior Brett Sawaia and sophomore Zach Little (+3) in a tie for 73rd.

DAY-ONE LEADERBOARD: Walking off the course with the day-one lead, Oklahoma shot an 8-under 280. Texas A&M’s Phichaksn Maichon took the individual lead at 6-under 66.

As a team, the Scarlet & Gray heads into the second round looking to move from their current spot on the leaderboard (T-23rd) toward the top-15 team projected cut line set to take effect after Sunday’s third round, which currently stands at 5-over.
