COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – New Mexico senior Bastien Amat has been tabbed the Mountain West Men’s Golfer of the Month for October, while Utah State’s Ashton McArthur has been selected as the MW Freshman of the Month.

The monthly honor is the second for McArthur and the first for Amat.

GOLFER OF THE MONTH
BASTIEN AMAT, NEW MEXICO
Senior, Condette, Pas-De-Clais, France / Nazareth HS

  • Averaged 65.7 strokes over three rounds.
  • Tied for first at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational at the Meadow Club in Fairfax, California, for his second career title.
  • Shot a 16-under-par 197 (68-65-64), the second-lowest total in program history and the lowest in over 50 years.
  • Helped the Lobos to second place in the tournament with a 36-under 816, the second-lowest 54-hole score in program history.

FRESHMAN OF THE MONTH
ASHTON McARTHUR, UTAH STATE
Freshman, Rexburg, Idaho / Madison HS

  • Averaged 73.0 strokes over six rounds.
  • Tied for 11th at the inaugural Monterrey Collegiate Classic at Club Campestre Monterrey in Monterrey, Mexico, shooting all three rounds under par to finish at 8-under 208 (70-71-67).
  • Helped the Aggies to the team title at the Monterrey Collegiate Classic, with the squad firing a school-record 29-under 835 to better the previous 54-hole mark by 12 strokes.
  • Utah State’s 11-under 277 in the second round tied for the seventh-best team round in program history and its 10-under 278 in the third round tied for 10th-best in program history.
  • Opened his month with a 50th-place finish at the CSUN Bill Cullum Invitational at The Saticoy Club in Somas, California, shooting 14-over 230 (76-76-78).
