LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV men’s golf senior Caden Fioroni has been named to the Haskins Award 2023-24 Preseason Watch List presented by Stifel, the Haskins Foundation announced Tuesday.
The award is presented to the most outstanding collegiate golfer in the United States. Touted as the “Heisman of Golf,” the Haskins Trophy – which dates back to 1971 – is the oldest award in college golf and is named in honor of Fred Haskins, who dedicated his career to teaching junior golfers the art of competitive golf. It is the only award voted on by players, coaches, golf SIDs and select golf media.
A San Diego native, Fioroni is coming off a season in which he led the Rebels with a 70.53 scoring average, 151 birdies and 27 rounds at par or better.
Fioroni, who was also on the 2022 Final Fall Haskins Award Watch List, joins a pair of Scarlet & Gray players in being numbered on the prestigious list. Previously, former Rebel golfer Shintaro Ban was placed on the list in 2018 and Ryan Moore won the award in 2005.
