COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado State’s Davis Bryant has been named the MW Men’s Golfer of the Month, while teammate Christoph Bleier is the MW Men’s Golf Freshman of the Month. On the women’s side, San José State senior Antonia Malate is the MW Women’s Golfer of the Month and teammate Lucia Lopez Ortega has earned MW Women’s Golf Freshman of the Month.

This is the third weekly/monthly Conference honor for Malate, second for Bryant and first for Bleier and Ortega.

MEN’S GOLFER OF THE MONTH
DAVIS BRYANT, COLORADO STATE
Senior, Aurora, Colorado / Eaglecrest HS

  • In Colorado State’s season-opening tournament, tied for runner-up honors, competing in extremely windy conditions.
  • Led the Rams from behind to win the Ram Masters Invitational, despite beginning the final round in fifth place.
  • The tied for second finish is tied for career-best (2019).
  • Tied for tournament low round with a three-under 67 on the last day, leading CSU to a tournament-low five-under 275 on the last day and the only under-par round of the event.

MEN’S GOLF FRESHMAN OF THE MONTH
CHRISTOPH BLEIER, COLORADO STATE
Freshman, Linz, Austria / Borg Linz

  • In first collegiate event, helped Colorado State to a team victory at the Ram Masters Invitational and tied for sixth place individually.
  • Tied for tournament low round with a three-under 67 in the final 18 holes.
  • Led the tournament with 10 birdies.

WOMEN’S GOLFER OF THE MONTH
ANTONIA MALATE, SAN JOSÉ STATE
Senior, Seaside, California / Robert Louis Stevenson HS

  • Recorded a pair of top-five finishes in September, while also leading San José State to back-to-back second-place finishes.
  • Registered a 71.5 stroke average in six rounds, including four rounds at par or better.
  • Competing at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational in Albuquerque, finished fourth at six-under 210.
  • Shot back-to-back three-under 69s in the first two rounds of the season-opening tournament.
  • Helped the Spartans shoot -11, 277 in the second round, the second-lowest score in program history, just two shots off the record of 275 shot in back-to-back rounds of the 2015 Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown.
  • At The Molly Collegiate Invitational, tied for fifth place at three-over 219.

WOMEN’S GOLF FRESHMAN OF THE MONTH
LUCIA LOPEZ ORTEGA, SAN JOSÉ STATE
Freshman, Sa Coma, Mallorca, Spain / Les Ortega Y Gasset

  • Played in both tournaments for San José State in September, finishing in the top-20 in each event.
  • Registered a 74.17 stroke average for the month.
  • In the season-opening event at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational, tied for 16th two-over 218.
  • Shot a four-under 68 in the second round.
  • Helped the Spartans shoot -11, 277 in the second round, the second-lowest score in school history, just two shots off the record of 275 shot in back-to-back rounds of the 2015 Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown.
  • At The Molley Collegiate Invitational, tied for 20th.
  • San José State has opened the year with back-to-back second-place finishes.
