CORVALLIS, Ore. – San José State men’s golfer Avinash Iyer carded a 2-under-par 69 on Monday to lead a trio of Spartan individuals in the opening round of the 2026 NCAA Corvallis Regional at Trysting Tree Golf Club.

Iyer turned in a stellar performance, racking up five birdies on the day to put himself in a tie for 15th place heading into the second round.

The low individual not on an advancing team from the Corvallis regional advances to the NCAA Championship Finals.

All three Spartans competing as individuals enjoyed solid starts to the regional tournament:

  • Iyer: Tied for 15th place, fueled by five birdies.
  • Keshav “KC” Mungali: Tied for 33rd place after carding an even-par 71, which included four birdies.
  • Ivan Barahona: Tied for 55th place after shooting a 1-over 72, bouncing back with a pair of birdies.

UP NEXT: The three Spartan individuals play in the second round of the 2026 NCAA Men’s Golf Corvallis Regional from the Trysting Tree Golf Club on Tuesday.
