COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – New Mexico has swept the Mountain West Men’s Golfers of the Week honors, senior Mesa Falleur was tabbed the MW Men’s Golfer of the Week while fellow Lobo Thayer Plewe collected the MW Men’s Golf Freshman of the Week nod.
On the women’s side, San Diego State’s Kylie Phi was selected as the MW Women’s Golfer of the Week.
MEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK
MESA FALLEUR, NEW MEXICO
Senior, Muskogee, Oklahoma/Kansas City
- Earned the individual title at The Goodwin in Stanford, California, with a total score of 198, 12-under par, leading the 160-competitor field that included 17 of the nation’s top 100 players.
- Led the Lobos to a third-place team finish in a field of 30, including 14 top 50 programs.
- The senior logged a 66.0 round average, never exceeding 67 strokes with a low round of 65.
- His tournament score marked a career best.
MEN’S FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
THAYER PLEWE, NEW MEXICO
Cortez, Colorado/Montezuma-Cortez HS
- Helped the Lobos to a third-place finish at The Goodwin tournament and individually logged a top-30 finish.
- Recorded a total score of 210, even par, with a round average of 70.0.
- Tallied round scores of 67, 72 and 71.
- His opening round score of 67 marked a season
WOMEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK
KYLIE PHI, SAN DIEGO STATE
Sophomore, Fountain Valley, California/Fountain Valley HS
- Led the Aztecs to a seventh-place team finish at the Silicon Valley Showcase where she finished tied for seventh individually in a field of 58 competitors.
- Tallied 217 strokes across the three rounds and shot a low round of 71.
