COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Utah State sophomore Chase Goetschel was tabbed the Mountain West Men’s Golfer of the Week, while Air Force’s Ben Zeiler collected the MW Men’s Freshman of the Week nod. On the women’s side, New Mexico’s Ava Cepeda garnered the MW Women’s Golfer and Freshman of the Week honors.

MEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK
CHASE GOETSCHEL, UTAH STATE
Sophomore, Trabuco Canyon, California/UC Santa Barbara

  • Tallied a career-low 211, earning him a top-five finish, the first of his career, in a field of 95 competitors at the Minnesota Bell Bank Collegiate in Peoria, Arizona.
  • Recorded a career-best five under par, marking his second career under-par finish.
  • Across the three rounds registered scores of 69, 71 and 70.


MEN’S FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
BEN ZEILER, AIR FORCE
Del Mar, California/Classical Academy

  • Logged a team leading 213, three under par, earning a 15th place finish in a field of 104 individuals.
  • His 213 is his best career finish and his low round score of 69 is his second-best mark of his career.
  • The first Falcon to win a MW Golf weekly honor since 2014 and the first to earn the Freshman distinction since the awards inception in 2022.
  • Led the Falcons to an 11th place team finish at the UCSD Invitational at Torrey Pines.


WOMEN’S GOLFER/FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
AVA CEPEDA, NEW MEXICO
Freshman, Hauula, Hawaii/Kahuka HS

  • Finished tied for 14th in a field of 66 competitors with a score of 214, two under par, finishing ahead of 12 top-150 player at the PING/ASU Invitational in Phoenix.
  • Her top-15 finish marked the first of her career.
  • Tied her career-low round mark with a 69 in the final round.
