COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Grand Canyon’s Emily Gonzalez was tabbed the Mountain West Softball Player of the Week, while UNLV’s Lauren Fettic was named the MW Pitcher and Freshman of the Week.

EMILY GONZALEZ, GRAND CANYON
Senior, First Base/DP, Yucaipa, California/Yucaipa HS

  • Helped the Lopes to 6-0 weekend with wins over San Diego (7-0), Montana (8-0), North Florida (9-0), UC Santa Barbara (10-6; 6-1) and Montana (8-0).
  • Across her 16 at-bats logged a .625 batting average, slugged 1.313 and had an ob-base percentage of .684.
  • The senior registered seven runs, three of which were home runs, on 10 hits along with 10 RBIs.
  • Defensively tallied 17 putouts.

PITCHER & FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
LAUREN FETTIC, UNLV
Freshman, Pitcher, Boise, Idaho/Bishop Kelly HS

  • Led the Rebels in the circle going 2-0 with wins over Idaho State (14-6) and Merrimack (8-0).
  • Logged a 0.00 ERA across 7.2 innings, giving up no runs and only three hits.
  • Against Idaho State, came in to pitch 2.2 innings of relief, where she allowed only two hits, struck out one batter and didn’t allow a single run to be scored.
  • Against Merrimack, threw her first shutout game of her collegiate career, striking out six batters and allowing only a single hit during her five innings in the circle.
