COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – San Diego State catcher Jade Ignacio was tabbed the Mountain West Softball Player of the Week while Colorado State’s Reagan Wick was named the MW Pitcher of the Week. Co-Freshman of the Week honors were earned by Boise State’s Charley Duran and Nevada’s Katie Wetteland.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JADE IGNACIO, SAN DIEGO STATE
Senior, Catcher, Oceanside, California/El Camino HS

  • Led the Aztecs to a 3-1 opening week with wins over Minnesota (3-2), Loyola Chicago (9-1, 6 innings), Kentucky (4-3) and a loss to Miami (OH) (1-7).
  • Logged a batting average of .636, slugged 1.091 with an on-base percentage of .636 with two doubles and a home run on seven hits, while scoring three runs. Also tallied three RBIs across her 11 at-bats.
  • Defensively, posted 17 putouts and five assists behind the plate.


PITCHER OF THE WEEK
REAGAN WICK, COLORADO STATE
Junior, Weimer, Texas/Weimer HS

  • Led the Rams to a 3-0 week while in the circle, defeating Cal Poly (1-0), UC Davis (6-2) and Sacramento State (7-0).
  • Threw a no-hitter against Cal Poly in CSU’s season-opener and followed it up with a save at UC Davis and a complete-game shutout at Sacramento State.
  • The Texas native registered a 0.00 ERA across 14.2 innings and collected 16 strikeouts.


CO-FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
CHARLEY DURAN, BOISE STATE
Pitcher, Placentia, California/Esperanza HS

  • Helped the Broncos to a 3-1 week while in the circle with wins over then #14/22 Ole Miss (3-2), CSUN (24-6), at CSU Fullerton (4-1, 8 innings) and a loss to LMU (0-3).
  • Posted a 2-0 record in four appearances and one start.
  • Logged a 0.66 ERA, a 1.12 WHIP and four strikeouts across 10.2 innings pitched.
  • Pitched three innings of shutout relief to earn the victory over ranked Ole Miss.


CO-FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
KATIE WETTELAND, NEVADA
Third Base, Rocklin, California/Rocklin HS

  • Guided the Wolf Pack to a 3-2 week to start the season with wins over Illinois (9-0), NC State (1-0), Lamar (8-0) and a pair of losses to then #16 LSU (2-6 & 0-8).
  • Across 15 at-bats, tallied seven hits, two of which were home runs, three tuns and six RBIs.
  • Defensively, notched six putouts and seven assists.
  • Against Illinois, showed force with two-homers and five RBIs to open the season for the Pack.
