COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – San Diego State sophomore Harry Takis has been tabbed the Mountain West Men’s Golfer of the Week, while Wyoming’s Brody Knowlton has been selected as the MW Freshman of the Week.

HARRY TAKIS, SAN DIEGO STATE
Sophomore, Brisbane, Australia

  • Won his first-career individual title at the Southwestern Invitational.
  • Shot a 7-under 203 on the North Ranch Country Club’s par 70 course, which is 6,764 yards, and was two shots ahead of the next competitor. Only eight of the 75 competitors shot under par.
  • Takis carried a three-shot lead into the final four holes Wednesday, but collected consecutive bogeys on the par-5 15th and par-4 16th holes. After a par on the 17th, he entered the final hole one stroke ahead of Pepperdine’s Brady Siravo and closed with a birdie, hitting his approach to within a foot to secure a two-shot victory.
  • The closing birdie propelled San Diego State to a solo second-place finish in the 13-team field at 6-over 846. Ranked 29th in the latest Scoreboard powered by Clippd, the Aztecs were second only to host and No. 15 Pepperdine (-11), while finishing ahead of several ranked teams including Washington, USC, New Mexico, Utah, UCLA and SMU.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
BRODY KNOWLTON, WYOMING

  • Led Wyoming to a ninth-place team finish at the Arizona NIT in the 13-team, 72-player field.
  • Posted a three-round score of 211 (-5) to finish tied for 18th, marking career bests for both score and finish.
  • Opened the tournament with a career-low 67 (-5), highlighted by six birdies.
