URBANA, Ill. (UNLVRebels.com) – After three players shot under par, the UNLV men’s golf opened play at the NCAA Urbana Regional Monday with a first-round 3-under 281 to stand in third going into the second day at Atkins Golf Club (Par 71, 7,533 yards).

MONDAY SCORECARD: Guiding the Rebels through their first 18 holes, senior Caden Fioroni recorded a 3-under 68, sophomore Zach Little added a 2-under 69 in his regional debut and junior Wyatt Plattner ended the day at 1-under 70. Together, the trio combined for 13 of the Scarlet & Gray’s 15 day-one birdies as Fioroni (6 birdies) positioned himself in a tie for third, followed by Little (3 birdies) in a tie for sixth and Plattner (4 birdies) in a tie for 15th.

REBEL ROUNDUP: Following their Scarlet & Gray counterparts on the leaderboard are senior Trevor Lewis (+3), who made an eagle on hole No. 3, in a tie for 47th and junior Brett Sawaia (+7) in a tie for 70th.

DAY-ONE LEADERS: Jumping to the team and individual leads on their home course, host Illinois tallied a 7-under 277 and the Illini’s Jackson Buchanan shot an 8-under 63.

UP NEXT: The postseason event continues on Tuesday, with the Rebels’ second-round tee times beginning at 6 a.m. PT/8 a.m. CT.
