CRESWELL, Ore. – San Diego State completed the team and individual title sweep at the 2025 Credit Union 1 Mountain West Men’s Golf Championship on Sunday, becoming just the second program in MW history to claim four straight team titles, while Aztec senior Justin Hastings won the individual crown with a near-record score.

SDSU cruised to a 23-stroke win over runner-up UNLV at the par-72, 7,164-yard Emerald Valley Golf Club to become the first MW squad to win four straight titles since New Mexico did so from 2003-06.

The 16th-ranked Aztecs turned in a 54-under-par 810 over three rounds, the second-best 54-hole mark in MW tournament history. Their 23-stroke margin of victory is tied for the second-largest in tournament annals. SDSU capped off its tournament with a 10-under 278 team score in the final round.

Hastings shot a 3-under 69 to close out his incredible tournament run and claim his first career MW crown. He finished with an 18-under 198, just one stroke off the Conference’s 54-hole tournament record.

Joining Hastings in the top 10 were freshman Harry Takis, who finished third at 14-under 202, Nathan Sampson, who tied for fourth at 11-under 205, and Tyler Kowack, who was eighth at 9-under 207. Takis and Sampson matched Hastings with 3-under 69s Sunday, while Kowack shot even-par 72.

Utah State finished sixth at 16-under 848, followed by Boise State in seventh at 9-under 855. The Broncos’ Cole Rueck, the 2024 MW champion, finished seventh at 10-under 206, posting a 2-under 70 in the final round.

Nevada (8-under 856), Fresno State (7-under 857), Wyoming (2-over 866) and Air Force (16-over 880) rounded out the team standings, with the Bulldogs’ Joseph Lloyd tying for ninth at 8-under 208.

San Diego State rewrote the MW record book over the course of the 54-hole event, posting the best first-round score (269), second-round score (263) and 36-hole total (532) in tournament history. Hastings matched the tournament all-round record with a 10-under 62 in round two – a record for that round – and set the 36-hole total of 129. His 62 was also a course record.

The Aztecs’ title sweep was their second in three seasons, as Dylan Oyama, who subbed into Sunday’s final round and shot 1-under 71, claimed the 2023 title.

With the tournament win, San Diego State clinched the MW’s automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals. The NCAA selection show takes place Wednesday, April 30, at 1 p.m. ET and will air on the Golf Channel. Regionals will take place May 12-14 at various sites, with the final set for May 23-28 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California.
