COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – New Mexico senior Carson Herron has been named the Mountain West Men’s Golfer of the Week, while San Diego State’s Harry Takis is the MW Men’s Golf Freshman of the Week. These are the final weekly awards of the 2024-25 men’s golf season.

The MW honors are the third for both Herron and Takis in their careers.

GOLFER OF THE WEEK
CARSON HERRON, NEW MEXICO
Senior, Deephaven, Minnesota/Minnetonka HS

  • Tied for the individual title before falling on the first playoff hole for runner-up honors at the ASU Thunderbird Collegiate at Papago Golf Club in Phoenix, Arizona.
  • Shot a 12-under-par 201 to tie his career-best finish, career-low total and the sixth-best 54-hole total in program history.
  • Carded rounds of 5-under 66, 3-under 68 and 4-under 67 to become the first Lobo to post three rounds in the 60s in a tournament in more than a year.
  • Turned in his third top-10 showing of the season and finished ahead of 17 players ranked in the top 150 nationally.
  • Helped No. 49 New Mexico to a fourth-place finish in a 10-team field that included six other top-50 programs. The Lobos finished ahead of three teams ranked ahead of them.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
HARRY TAKIS, SAN DIEGO STATE
Brisbane, Australia/Kelvin Grove State College (HS)

  • Tied for 11th Western Intercollegiate at Pasatiempo Golf Club in Santa Cruz, California.
  • Shot a 1-under-par 209 over 54 holes.
  • Turned in a career-low 4-under 66 in the opening round, following with a 1-over 71 and a 2-over 72.
  • Helped San Diego State capture the Western Intercollegiate for the first time since 1960.
  • The 18th-ranked Aztecs topped a loaded 14-team field that included six other squads ranked inside the top 50 nationally.
