BOISE, Idaho – Sophia Knight was named a Freshman All-American by Softball America, Tuesday.
Earlier this season, Knight was named Mountain West Freshman of the Year, All-Mountain West First Team and NFCA All-Pacific Region Second Team.
The Huntington Beach, Calif., native was a Tucci/NFCA Division 1 Top 25 Freshman. She started all-59 games for Boise State and batted .405 to lead the Mountain West.
Knight’s 85 hits are the most by a freshman in the NCAA this season and rank fourth nationally.
She set Boise State freshman records for hits, runs (51) and stolen bases (18). The outfielder reached base in her first-30 games and became the first Bronco to start a season or a career with a 14-game hitting streak.
Knight ranks second on Boise State’s single-season list for hits and sixth in batting average. Her runs tied for third and her stolen bases tied for seventh.
In addition, Knight recorded six-outfield assists on her way to becoming the first All-American in school history.
