COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Fresno State sophomore Kennedy Bunker was tabbed the Mountain West Softball Player of the Week. San Diego State veteran Allie Light was named the MW Pitcher of the Week, while Boise State’s Abby Dowell earned the MW Freshman of the Week nod.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
KENNEDY BUNKER, FRESNO STATE
Sophomore, C, Simi Valley, California/Westlake HS
- Led the Bulldogs to a 5-0 week, including a top-25 win over then-No. 25 Mississippi State (3-1).
- The catcher started all five games for the bulldogs behind the plate.
- Logged a .533 batting average, while going 8-for-15.
- Recorded an .800 slugging percentage and a .563 on-base percentage.
- While at bat tallied eight hits, three RBIs, two runs and one four-bagger.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
ALLIE LIGHT, SAN DIEGO STATE
Senior, Lexington, South Carolina/Arkansas
- Helped the Aztecs to a 3-1 week, including a top-25 win over then-No.11/13 Missouri (3-2) and only losing to the No. 1 Oklahoma.
- Logged a 2-1 week and a 1.97 ERA over 10.2 innings in the circle.
- Notched six strikeouts for the Aztecs.
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
ABBY DOWELL, BOISE STATE
Pitcher, Iowa Park, Texas/Iowa Park HS
- Was 2-1 in four appearances, including one start for the Broncos.
- Pitched four innings of shutout relief in the 6-0 victory over UT Arlington.
- Logged a shutout inning of relief against No. 6 LSU.
- Tallied eight strikeouts and a .950 ERA in 14.2 innings pitched.
