COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The Grand Canyon Lopes head to the NCAA tournament as the three seed in the Lincoln Regional and will take on Louisville this Friday, May 15, at 3 p.m. CT on ESPNU.
This will mark the Lopes fifth consecutive visit to the national tournament and eighth overall. GCU finished the regular season 52-8, tied for most wins nationally this season and the first MW program to reach such a feat. The Lopes finished 25-5 in Mountain West play.
Grand Canyon’s season is highlighted by five top 50 RPI wins, including a 2-0 record over No. 8 seed Wisconsin and three wins over Nevada. The program, led by MW Coach of the Year Shanon Hays, bolstered a 30-0 win streak at the beginning of the season which is the nation’s longest such streak this year.
The Lopes, in their first year as Mountain West members, earned the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA tournament after winning the 2026 Credit Union 1 Mountain West Softball Championship.
