RENO, Nev. — No. 1 Seed Grand Canyon defeated New Mexico with a final score of 11-7 in a postseason matchup at Christina M. Hixson Softball Park on Friday. The Lopes secured the victory with three home runs and will advance to Saturday’s title game, where they will face No. 3 seed Nevada at 12 p.m. PT.
Grand Canyon showcased several standout performers. Addison Shifflett led the charge with an impressive two home runs and six RBIs, contributing significantly to the team’s offensive output. Jada Cooper provided additional power, hitting a home run and driving in three runs. Sydney McCray demonstrated versatility at the plate and on the bases, collecting two RBIs while successfully stealing three bases. On the mound, Lilly Camp secured a victory with a solid 2-inning performance, striking out three and allowing just one hit. These key players highlighted their abilities during the team’s latest outing.
DeNae Vasquez-Dickson stood out for the Lobos, crossing the plate twice in her appearance. Allie Williams also made significant contributions, matching Vasquez-Dickson with two runs scored and adding a double to her performance. Melanie Macias led the team with three RBIs, including one double, highlighting her effectiveness at the plate. Jessica DeLeon showcased her power by hitting a home run and driving in two runs, contributing both offensively and defensively. Marina Tinari provided strong relief pitching, throwing 2 scoreless innings while allowing just one hit and striking out one batter.
