RENO, Nev. — No. 3 seed Nevada (38-18) defeated No. 2 seed UNLV (31-21), 13–6, in the 2026 Credit Union 1 Mountain West Softball Championship on Thursday.
Similar to Wednesday against Colorado State, the Wolf Pack flipped the script with one big inning. Nevada entered the fourth trailing 4-2 and had only mustered five hits. They got a leadoff double from Matlyn Leetch, who was quickly brought home by a Karolyn Glover double to left center on the next at bat. A fielding error allowed for the Wolf Pack to tie the game before a sacrifice fly by Haylee Engelbrecht gave them a lead they wouldn’t surrender. A Lexi O’Gorman two-run double put a cap on a five-run inning.
In the end, Nevada scattered 18 hits for the game, the second-most hits in a MW tournament contest and most since UNLV’s 19 against San Diego State in 2000.
Engelbrecht led the Wolf Pack with an impressive performance, scoring three runs and recording three hits, including a double, while also contributing an RBI. Rylie Haith delivered a strong performance off the bench with three hits and drove in two runs. Talia Tretton added to the team’s offensive output with three hits, one of which was a double, and drove in a run. On the bump, Ainsley Berlingeri secured the win, striking out four batters over 3.1 innings.
Nevada will face nationally ranked Grand Canyon on Friday at Noon PT, while UNLV will take on New Mexico in a win-or-go-home game at 3 p.m. PT. The Lopes have only dropped seven games this season, two of which came against the Wolf Pack.
