TUCSON – The San Diego State men’s golf team led the standings with a score of 273 (-15) after the first round of the 2026 Credit Union 1 Mountain West Men’s Golf Championship at Omni Tucson National Resort. This prestigious tournament marks the 15th time it has been held at the Omni Tucson National Resort on the Catalina Course, adding to its rich history at this renowned venue.

Tyler Kowack of San Diego State led the individual standings with a final score of 65, finishing seven-under-par. A five-way tie for second place saw Wyoming’s Brody Knowlton and Brody Leid, Grand Canyon’s Mans Boje and Nixon Lauritzen and UNLV’s Trevor Lewis each carding a 67, two strokes behind Kowack. Sampson and Harry Takis from the Aztecs both shot 68 to tie for seventh alongside Colorado State’s Alessandro Trenta and New Mexico’s Thayer Plewe.

In team standings, Wyoming closely trailed San Diego State by two strokes, posting a 275 at 13-under-par to secure second place. San José State and Grand Canyon followed, with scores of 277 and 278 respectively, showcasing tight competition among the top teams. The Rebels rounded out the top five with a score of 279, maintaining pressure within a narrow margin of the leaders.
