PHOENIX, Ariz. — Nevada (26-13, 8-4 MW) delivered a resilient performance on Saturday afternoon to defeat No. 17/22 Grand Canyon (37-4, 10-2 MW), 4–3, at GCU Softball Stadium and secured a statement Mountain West series win.

The first four innings remained scoreless for both teams. Karolyn Glover got the ball rolling for Nevada with an RBI single in the top of the fifth to put the Pack in the lead at 1-0. Lexi O’Gorman followed with an RBI single of her own to extend the lead to 2-0. GCU responded with a three-run home run to take the lead heading into the sixth inning.

Bailie Clark wasted no time with a two-RBI single to help Nevada regain the lead at 4-3.

Nevada’s bullpen took it from there. Hailey McLean earned the win, and Talia Tretton delivered a composed seventh inning to earn her third save of the season, striking out two and retiring the Lopes without a hit to close out the victory.

Ainsley Berlingeri set the tone early with four scoreless innings, allowing just two hits while striking out six. Nevada’s staff combined for nine strikeouts and held one of the nation’s most explosive offenses to just five hits on the day.

Nevada turns its attention to a double-header in San Diego on April 8 taking on the Aztecs.
