RENO, Nev. – Following a 12-for-22 week at the Silicon Valley Classic I, Haley Painter earns national honors being named D1Softball’s Player of the Week.
Painter recorded a hit in each of the Wolf Pack’s six games, including five multi-hit games. The Antioch, California native tallied 10 RBI, four doubles, a triple, and two home runs in the team’s trip to the South Bay.
“It’s no surprise to us” said Interim Head Coach Marina Demore about Painter. “The amount of effort and work this young lady puts in is unmatched. It’s nice to see she’s getting the recognition she deserves. She’s just getting started.”
Slashing .545/.615/1.091 for the weekend, Painter ranks in the top three in all major hitting categories for the Wolf Pack, including leading the team in on-base percentage (.568), slugging percentage (1.083), doubles (5), and total bases (39).
Painter, in 11 games played, is now hitting .472 with five home runs on the season with a team-leading 1.651 OPS.
Painter and the Pack look to continue their early-season success this coming weekend at the Pacific Tournament, taking on Stony Brook, Creighton, and Pacific starting Feb. 23 at 10 A.M.
