MESA, Ariz. — No. 5 New Mexico (29-22, 12-11 MW) defeated No. 4 Nevada (24-27, 13-11 MW) 13-4 on Thursday in the 2026 Credit Union 1 Mountain West Baseball Championship at Sloan Park in Mesa, Arizona.

The Lobos victory snaps a five-game losing streak in the MW tournament and their first victory since May 25, 2017.

UNM outfielder Lenny Ashby quickly put the Lobos in the lead with a three-run home run to left field, but the Wolf Pack answered back with two runs in the bottom half of the inning.

Nevada tied the game in the bottom of the second inning when first-team All-MW first baseman Jayce Dobie slapped an RBI double to left field. However, the New Mexico bats came alive once again, racking up 10 runs on seven hits over the next two innings leading to the win.

Ashby finished the game with three hits and five RBIs, while Antonio Gianni drove in three runs.

On the mound, Ryan Castillo pitched 5.2 innings, striking out four batters. Cooper Corkrean provided solid relief, allowing just one hit over 3.1 innings and securing the save with four strikeouts.

The Lobos have a quick turnaround as they face top-seeded San Diego State on Friday, May 22 at 1:05 MST. UNM swept San Diego State during the regular season.
