LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV junior infielder Gunnar Myro has been named to the 2026 College Sports Communicators Academic All-America® Division I Baseball Second Team, which was voted on by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) and announced on Tuesday. Myro, who is from Las Vegas, is majoring in urban studies and has a 3.98 grade point average.
The junior is just the sixth UNLV baseball player to earn Academic All-America honors and only the second since 2012. Trevor Kirk (OF) earned third team recognition in 2012, Bryan Resnick (INF) earned third-team honors in 2009, Scott Vincent (OF) was a third-team selection in 1996, Reed Peters (OF) was honorable mention in 1986 and Dan Fischer (RHP) was the first Rebel baseball player to earn Academic All-America honors in 1978 when he was named to the second team.
Myro appeared in a career-high 44 games with 43 starts. He batted a career-high .353 with 54 hits, 10 doubles and 29 RBI. The Las Vegas native had three home runs, including the walk-off two-run home run in the regular season finale that sent the Scarlet & Gray to the MW Baseball Championship. Myro walked eight times, stole one base, recorded a pair of sacrifice bunts, recorded a slugging percentage of .490 and an on-base percentage of .401. He recorded a career-high 153 at-bats, scored 32 runs and ended the season with a team-best 17-game hitting streak, the longest of any batter on UNLV this season.
