MW Outdoor Track & Field Championship Central | Day 1 Results

CLOVIS, Calif. – The 2026 Credit Union 1 Mountain West Outdoor Track & Field Championships opened with eight events on Thursday at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Clovis.

The heptathlon and decathlon kicked things off on Thursday morning.

Colorado State completely controlled the women’s hammer throw, led by junior Kajsa Borrman, who won the event with a dominant mark of 66.12 meters (216′ 11″). Borrman was the only competitor to break the 66-meter barrier and finished nearly six meters ahead of the rest of the field. The Rams also showcased impressive depth, placing four athletes in the top six and piling up 25 team points overall.

Air Force’s Texas Tanner won his third-straight men’s hammer throw title on Thursday, bettering his own previous Mountain West Championship meet record to 77.73m/255-0.

Nevada’s Lilly Urban also defended her title in the women’s javelin throw as Nevada took the top two spots in the event. Utah State’s Walker Deede took home the men’s title in the javelin, his first career title.

New Mexico’s Christina Nisoli won the women’s 10,000 race, earning her first championship title in a time of 34:12.20. The Lobos also took the men’s race as Evans Kiplagat earned gold in 29:23.92, earning his first career title.

After day one, Colorado State sits atop the men’s and women’s team leaderboards.
