ANN ARBOR, Mich. (UNLVRebels.com) – Junior Zi Yu Foong and sophomore Amber Chen remained in the individual top 20 after the UNLV women’s golf team wrapped up Tuesday’s second round at the NCAA Ann Arbor Regional at University of Michigan Golf Course (Par 71, 6,260 yards).

REBEL ROUNDUP: Foong is just outside the top 10 in a tie for 11th at 1-over and Chen sits in a tie for 18th at 2-over. They will continue to chase the chance for an individual NCAA Championship bid reserved for the top individual outside of the top-5 teams, which currently stands at 1-under.

Also in the top 50, freshman Demi Du (+10) follows the Scarlet & Gray duo in a tie for 45th. Making moves up the leaderboard, junior Jane Huang (+13) improved 10 spots into a tie for 52nd with the team’s second-round best of 2-over 73 and freshman Lana Yamagata’s (+16) four-spot jump places her into a tie for 57th.

SECOND-ROUND HIGHLIGHTS: All five Rebels shot par or better on holes 9-11, including birdies from Chen and Yamagata on the ninth hole and pars from the rest of the lineup. Posting the squad’s longest par-or-better streaks on the day, Foong had nine consecutive par-or-better tallies with one birdie from holes 6-14, followed by Huang’s seven with two birdies from holes 5-11.

DAY-TWO LEADERBOARD: The team standings find Ohio State in the lead at 1-over, Northwestern and USC in a tie for second at 2-over, Texas Tech (+5) in fourth and Duke (+8) in fifth. UNLV (+23) stands in eighth heading in the final round. NU’s Ashley Yun holds a four-shot lead atop the individual standings.

UP NEXT: The Rebels tee off in Wednesday’s final round once again at 5:55 a.m. PT.
