COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – For a second consecutive week, Nevada’s Annalies Kalma and Lilly Urban have been named the Mountain West Women’s Track and Women’s Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, while Air Force’s Julie Segroves was selected as the MW Women’s Freshman of the Week.

Utah State swept the honors on the men’s side, with Mathew Hall earning MW Men’s Track Athlete of the Week honors, Walker Deede picking up the MW Men’s Field Athlete of the Week award and Blake Johns collecting the MW Men’s Freshman of the Week nod.

WOMEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
ANNALIES KALMA, NEVADA
Senior, Hamilton, New Zealand/St. Peters School Cambridge

  • Placed 3rd in the 400-meter race at the LSU Alumni Gold Meet (Baton Rouge, Louisiana) with a time of 51.87.
  • The time leads the Mountain West during the outdoor season and broke her own school record in the event.
  • Currently ranked 26th in the country in the event.

WOMEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
LILLY URBAN, NEVADA
Junior, Frankfurt, Germany/Limesschule Idstein

  • Won the javelin competition at the LSU Alumni Gold Meet with a throw of 54.01 meters (177-2.0) to remain undefeated in all competitions for javelin this season.
  • Recorded the best javelin throw in the Mountain West this week and is currently ranked sixth in the NCAA in the event with a season-best throw of 56.60 meters (185-8.0) at the Mt. SAC Relays earlier this season.

WOMEN’S FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
JULIE SEGROVES, AIR FORCE
Freshman, Biloxi, MS/Biloxi HS

  • Recorded a career-best clearance of 4.08 meters (13-4.50) in the pole vault at the Drake Relays (Des Moines, Iowa).
  • Finished fourth in the “championship” field and improved her own No. 2 mark on the program’s all-time standings.
  • Top-ranked freshman in the Mountain West and No. 10 freshman in the NCAA this season.

MEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
MATHEW HALL, UTAH STATE
Sophomore, Orem, Utah/Timpanogos HS

  • Won the 400-meter race at the Aggie Invitational (Logan, Utah) with a time of 46.19.
  • Ran the third-fastest 400 meters in USU history in just his second career race at the distance.
  • Ranks second in the Conference in the event.

MEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
WALKER DEEDE, UTAH STATE
Junior, Springville, Utah/Springville HS

  • Won the javelin at the Aggie Invitational with a throw of 74.90-meters (245-9).
  • Mark represents the second-longest throw in Mountain West and Utah State history.
  • Leads the Conference in the javelin by over 22 feet and ranks 10th in the nation.
  • Improved on his previous personal-best by just under 13 feet.

MEN’S FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
BLAKE JOHNS, UTAH STATE
Freshman, Meridian, Idaho/Meridian HS

  • Set personal-bests in the hammer (56.80 meters/186-4.0) and shot put (15.51 meters/50-10.75) at the Aggie Invitational.
  • Leads all freshmen and ranks sixth overall in the Mountain West in the hammer.
  • Currently the second-ranked freshman in the Conference in the shot put.
