COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Grand Canyon junior Trevor Schmidt has been named the Mountain West Baseball Player of the Week, while Nevada senior Aidan Brainard has been selected the MW Baseball Pitcher of the Week. San José State infielder Peyton Rowles collected the MW Baseball Freshman of the Week honor.

  • Led Grand Canyon to a series win over Air Force at home.
  • Batted .500 with six hits, including two doubles and two home runs, 10 RBIs and three runs scored.
  • Posted an on-base percentage of .500 and a slugging percentage of 1.167.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK

AIDAN BRAINARD, NEVADA

Senior, Littleton, Colorado/Regis

  • Tossed six scoreless innings in Nevada’s 3-2 series-opening victory at New Mexico.
  • Went 1-0 on the mound after holding the Lobos to just two hits.
  • Struck out seven batters.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

PEYTON ROWLES, SAN JOSÉ STATE

Infielder, Benicia, California/Benicia HS

  • Helped San José State to an undefeated week with nonconference wins over Cal and Fresno State.
  • Registered a .429 batting average with six hits, two RBIs and three runs scored.
  • Posted a multi-hit effort in two of his three starts at second base.
