COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – San Diego State junior Aleksi Lofman has been selected as the Mountain West Men’s Tennis Player of the Week and Boise State’s Filip Soderqvist is the MW Men’s Tennis Freshman of the Week for a second time this season.

On the women’s side, UNLV swept the honors with sophomore Veronica Kliuch earning MW Women’s Tennis Player of the Week honor and first-year Rebel Eszter Kis-Czako picking up the MW Women’s Tennis Freshman of the Week award.

MEN’S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
ALEKSI LOFMAN, SAN DIEGO STATE
Junior, Helsinki, Finland/LSU

  • Went 4-0 on the top court in singles and doubles, leading San Diego State to a pair of wins over No. 67 Cal Poly and Pacific.
  • Went 2-0 in No. 1 singles, which included a straight-sets win over Pacific’s top player.
  • Playing alongside William Kleege, won both doubles matches on the weekend with the win over Pacific’s top pair clinching the Aztec sweep.

MEN’S TENNIS FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
FILIP SODERQVIST, BOISE STATE
Norrtalje, Sweden

  • Went 2-0 in his completed matches to help Boise State to three wins on the weekend over Idaho State, Montana and No. 56 BYU – the Broncos’ highest ranked win since 2009.
  • Playing at the No. 3 singles spot against Idaho, won in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3.
  • Teaming up with Stewart Aronson, collected the Broncos’ only doubles point against the Cougars, winning 6-1 over BYU’s No. 2 pair.

WOMEN’S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
VERONICA KLIUCH, UNLV
Sophomore, Lviv, Ukraine/Optima School

  • Went 5-1 over the weekend to lead the Rebels to three wins over Seattle U, Northern Arizona and New Mexico State by combined scored of 18-0.
  • Swept her three opponents at No. 1 singles and added a pair of doubles wins at the No. 2 spot.
  • Teamed up with MW Women’s Freshman of the Week Eszter Kis-Czako to come from behind and clinch the doubles point against NMSU, helping the Rebels stay unbeaten in doubles on the season.

WOMEN’S TENNIS FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
ESZTER KIS-CZAKO, UNLV
Kiskunfelegyhaza, Hungary/Mora Ference Gymnasium

  • Went a combined 4-0 across singles and doubles to help UNLV to 3-0 weekend at home.
  • Won both her completed singles matches at the No. 4 position and added a pair of doubles victories I the No. 2 spot, including a doubles-point-clinching win against New Mexico State’s second pair.
