LOGAN, Utah – Utah State head soccer coach Manny Martins was honored by the United Soccer Coaches Black Soccer Coaches Leadership Team, being named the 2025 College Soccer Coach of the Year.

Martins, in his fifth year as the head coach of the Aggies, was formally recognized during the Black Soccer Coaches Recognition Social on Thursday, Jan. 15, at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown.

During his tenure in Logan, Martins has helped elevate the Utah State program to new heights. A two Mountain West Coach of the Year (2023, 2024) and three-time recipient of United Soccer Coaches Pacific Region Coaching Staff of the Year honors (2023, 2024, 2025), Martins has led the team to back-to-back-to-back Mountain West Tournament titles and NCAA Tournament appearances.

This season under Martins, Utah State went 10-6-7 with a 5-2-3 record in Mountain West play before winning three-straight games to once again capture the MW Tournament title, then play to a draw against BYU in the NCAA Tournament opening round before dropping a 7-6 PK shootout.

Utah State led the Mountain West in nearly every statistical category, including assists per game (1.74), goal differential (+45), goals-against average (54) and points per game (5.22). The team’s 44 goals were the second-most in program history, while the Aggie defense posted nine shutouts. USU’s home field dominance continued as well as the team posted its second-straight unbeaten season at Chuck & Gloria Bell Field.

As the head coach of the Aggies, Martins has helped guide 20 players to All-Mountain West honors, 10 players to all-region team accolades, and has coached the team to a 63-26-24 overall record with a 31-12-11 mark in league matches.
