COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Utah State’s Tierney Barlow was selected as the Old Trapper Mountain West Women’s Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week, while Boise State’s Layla Smith was tabbed the Old Trapper MW Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week. Utah State’s Lauren Larkin was tabbed the Freshman of the Week.

This is the fourth MW weekly honor, third consecutive, for Barlow, third for Larkin and first for Smith.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
TIERNEY BARLOW, UTAH STATE
Senior, Middle Blocker, Colorado Springs, Colorado/Wyoming

  • Led the Aggies to a 2-0 week with wins over Air Force (3-1) and Nevada (3-0) to keep Utah State perfect through Conference play.
  • Averaged 3.86 kills per set on a .619 attack percentage.
  • Against the Falcons, totaled 18 kills on a .692 efficiency along with one service ace.
  • Against Nevada, registered a .500 hitting percentage and nine kills. Also contributed a service ace.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
LAYLA SMITH, BOISE STATE
Junior, Middle Blocker, Humble, Texas/Atascocita HS

  • Guided the Broncos to a 2-0 week with wins over Nevada (3-0) and Air Force (3-0).
  • Averaged 2.83 blocks per set for a total of 17 blocks.
  • Registered 10 blocks against the Wolf Pack and seven against the Falcons.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
LAUREN LARKIN, UTAH STATE
Middle Blocker, St. George, Utah/Deseret Hills HS

  • Helped Utah State to a pair of wins this week at home.
  • Logged an attack efficiency of .727 across seven sets of action.
  • Averaged 2.29 kills, 2.86 points and 1.14 blocks per set.
  • Against the Falcons, tied her career-high with 10 kills while hitting .667, and had two digs and five blocks.
  • Against the Wolf Pack, recorded six kills on a .857 clip along with three blocks.
