COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Eight Mountain West tennis players are set to compete in the 2025 ITA Conference Masters and Sectional Championships from November 6-9, aiming to secure spots in the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships.
UNLV sophomore Ilia Snitari, who won the Men’s Mountain West Fall Qualifier, went on to secure an NCAA tournament berth, as did teammate senior Illia Maksymchuk, after the pair advanced to the men’s final of the ITA Mountain Regional Championship and both qualified.
Earlier this fall, Mountain West institutions had the chance to compete in the MW Tennis Fall Qualifier, held October 2-6 in Las Vegas, where the winners of men’s and women’s singles and doubles advance to the ITA Conference Masters tournament.
With UNLV’s Snitari already punching his ticket to the NCAA Championships, the runner-up from the fall qualifier, Boise State’s Avery Tallakson, will represent the Mountain West at this week’s Masters tournament. Tallakson will also represent the league on the men’s doubles side with his teammate Carson Baker after their win at the fall qualifier.
On the women’s side, Nevada Amahée Charrier won the MW Fall Qualifier to earn her way into the Masters tournament as the Conference’s representative. For women’s doubles, San Diego State’s Jo-Yee Chan and Vessa Turley will compete after they were the last pair standing in Las Vegas.
The 2025 ITA Conference Masters Championships, hosted at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego, Cali., will feature a draw of 32 singles players and 32 doubles teams. Semifinalists in the singles matches and the top three doubles teams will qualify for the NCAA Championships.
The 2025 ITA Sectional Championships, with four host sites, will include a 32-player singles draw and a 16-team doubles draw. Eligibility for the sectionals is based on performances in ITA All-Americans and ITA Regionals, with six singles players and three doubles teams from each section advancing to the NCAA Championships.
The West Sectional will feature players from the Northwest, Southwest, and Mountain Regions, with the men’s taking place at the University of California in Berkeley, Calif., and the women’s hosted by the University of Washington in Seattle, Wash.
