COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Utah State’s Mara Štiglic was tabbed the Old Trapper Mountain West Women’s Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week, while Wyoming’s Paige Lauterwasser was named as the Defensive Player of the Week. Grand Canyon’s Bella Nunez garnered the Freshman of the Week nod.
This is the fourth MW weekly honor for Nunez, second for Štiglic and first for Lauterwasser this season.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
MARA ŠTIGLIC, UTAH STATE
Sophomore, Outside, Rijeka, Croatia/Haok Rijeka
- Led Utah State to a 2-0 week on the road with wins over San Diego State (3-1) and UNLV (3-0), contributing to the Aggies’ ability to clinch a spot in the 2025 Credit Union 1 Mountain West Championship later this month.
- Averaged 4.14 kills per set and an attack efficiency of .400 across seven sets of action.
- At SDSU, recorded 13 kills and one assist.
- At UNLV, registered 16 kills on a hitting percentage of .448 along with two services aces.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
PAIGE LAUTERWASSER, WYOMING
Junior, Outside, Naperville, Illinois/Naperville North HS
- Guided the Cowgirls to a pair of four-set wins over San José State and Fresno State.
- Averaged 4.75 digs, logged a perfect reception percentage on 38 attempts and totaled four blocks across eight sets on the floor.
- Against the Spartans, tallied 19 digs and one block on the net.
- Against Fresno State, notched 19 digs and three blocks for the Brown and Gold.
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
BELLA NUNEZ, GRAND CANYON
Setter/Opposite, El Paso, Texas/Americas HS
- Ushered the Lopes to a 2-0 week with wins over Air Force (3-1) and Nevada (3-0).
- Averaged 2.86 kills, 5.43 assists, 1.43 digs and one block per set.
- Against the Falcons, logged 23 assists, 11 kills, four digs and three blocks.
- Against the Wolf Pack, totaled 15 assists, nine kills, six digs and four blocks.
