COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Utah State’s Loryn Helgesen was named the Old Trapper Mountain West Women’s Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week. Colorado State’s Eve Wilson was selected as the Defensive Player of the Week, while teammate Erin Debiec collected the Freshman of the Week nod.
This is the first career MW weekly honor for Helgesen, Wilson and Debiec.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
LORYN HELGESEN, UTAH STATE
Sophomore, Opposite Hitter, Kaysville, Utah/Davis HS
- Led the Aggies to a 2-0 week to remain undefeated in Conference play with wins over San Diego State (3-2) and UNLV (3-1).
- Tallied a .333 hitting percentage and averaged 4.56 kills per set.
- Against the Aztecs, logged a career-high 23 kills on a .444 attack efficiency across five sets of action.
- Against the Rebels, recorded 18 kills.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
EVE WILSON, COLORADO STATE
Junior, Middle Blocker, Sandy, Utah/High Point
- Guided the Rams to a 2-0 week with wins over fellow Front Range programs Air Force (3-1) and Wyoming (3-0).
- Averaged three blocks per set and totaled 21 blocks across seven sets.
- Against the Falcons, registered 12 total blocks.
- In the Border War match-up against Wyoming, notched nine blocks for the green and gold.
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
ERIN DEBIEC, COLORADO STATE
Redshirt Freshman, Setter, Potomac, Maryland/Bishop O’Connell HS
- Helped the Rams to a perfect week with wins over Air Force (3-1) and Wyoming (3-0).
- Across seven sets on the week recorded a .538 hitting percentage and averaged 11.29 assists, 2.4 digs, 1.7 blocks and one kill per set.
- Against the Falcons, logged 42 assists, 10 digs, nine blocks, five kills and one service ace.
- Against the Cowgirls, collected 37 assists, seven digs, three blocks and two kills.
