LOGAN, Utah – Utah State soccer’s senior forward Tess Werts earned national recognition for her record-setting performance against Fresno State, being tabbed to the Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday.
Werts, a native of Portland, Oregon, scored four goals in Utah State’s win over Fresno State on Oct. 9. This set a new program record and matched the Mountain West Conference record. She played just 55 minutes and took four shots, all of which found the back of the net as she scored in the 25th, 27th, 59th and 67th minutes. Werts is the first Aggies to score at least three goals in a game since 2018 and is just the fifth player in MW history to score four goals in a conference game.
Werts was also named as the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week, as well as the America First Credit Union USU Student-Athlete of the Week.
