COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Utah State’s Mara Štiglic has been tabbed the Old Trapper Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week, while Colorado State’s Kekua Richards was named the Defensive Player of the Week. New Mexico’s Addison Francecollected the Freshman of the Week nod for the second time this season.
This is the second MW weekly honor for France and first for Štiglic and Richards.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
MARA ŠTIGLIC, UTAH STATE
Sophomore, Outside Hitter, Rijeka, Croatia/Haok Rijeka
- Guided the Aggies to a 2-1 week with wins over Utah Valley (3-2) and Weber State (3-0) and a loss to then-No. 16 BYU (0-3).
- Averaged 4.18 kills per set and a .312 hitting percentage.
- At Utah Valley, registered 17 kills, three service aces and one assist.
- Against No. 16 BYU, tallied 10 kills and an attack efficiency of .381.
- Against Weber State, logged 19 kills for the Aggies.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
KEKUA RICHARDS, COLORADO STATE
Sophomore, Middle Blocker, Maui Hawai‘i/Seabury Hall
- Led the Rams to a 2-0 week against instate rival Colorado, which was receiving votes in the AVCA poll, in the Battle for the Golden Spike.
- Averaged two blocks per set for the Green and Gold.
- Recorded seven blocks in each match against the Buffs.
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
ADDISON FRANCE, NEW MEXICO
Setter/Outside Hitter, Phoenix, Arizona/Sandra Day O’Connor HS
- Helped the Lobos to a 1-1 week against instate rival New Mexico State.
- Averaged three kills and a .375 hitting efficiency, 2.6 assists and 2.3 digs per set.
- Collected a career-high 20 kills in the first match of the series along with 12 assists to record her first career double-double, adding six digs and one service ace.
- In the second match, tallied a triple-double with 10 kills, 14 assists and 17 digs. Also contributed two blocks for the Lobos.
