COLLEGE STATION, Texas – For the second time in as many days of competition at the NCAA West Prelim, Texas Tanner advanced to the national final in a throwing event. The Air Force junior, who qualified in the hammer throw on Wednesday, earned his place in the national finals of the discus this afternoon (May 31) following a strong final attempt in College Station, Texas.

Competing in the final flight of throwers just outside E.B. Cushing Stadium, Tanner opened his series with a 54.58-meter (179’1″) throw that placed him 27th following the first round of his section. After fouling his second attempt and sliding to 30th, the junior recorded a launch of 59.49 meters (195’2″) on his third and final attempt to vault into eighth and guarantee a spot his second event final of the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Championship season.

On the track, recently commissioned second lieutenant Javin Bostic led off a 4×100-meter squad that posted a top-20 finish in the regional final. Bostic, along with freshman Asher Jenkins, sophomore James Warmbrod IV, and freshman Brayden Richards, combined for a 40.27 finish, placing 20th in the overall field – four spots ahead of their regional seeding.

Air Force closes out action at the NCAA West Prelim tomorrow (May 31) afternoon, when freshman Morgan Glaser competes in the high jump at 3:30 p.m. (CT).
