COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – San José State’s Sky Hagan has been named the Mountain West Women’s Track Athlete of the Week, while Colorado State’s Mya Lesnar and Grace Lanfear earned the MW Women’s Field Athlete of the Week and MW Women’s Freshman of the Week honors, respectively.
On the men’s side, Wyoming’s Jacob White garnered the MW Men’s Track Athlete of the Week award, Air Force’s Texas Tanner picked up the MW Men’s Field Athlete of the Week honor for a third time during the outdoor season and Colorado State’s Ndayiragije Shukurani was named the MW Men’s Freshman of the Week.
WOMEN’S TRACK ATHLETE
SKY HAGAN, SAN JOSÉ STATE
Junior, Houston, Texas/Houston Benjamin Davis HS
- Finished first in the 100-meter hurdles at the Fresno State Invitational.
- Set a new personal-best in the event with a time of 13.22.
- The time is the top mark in San José State program history and ranks 36th in the NCAA.
WOMEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
MYA LESNAR, COLORADO STATE
Senior, Alexandria, Minnesota/Arizona State
- Won the shot put at the Doug Max Invitational, beating her own program and Mountain West record with a throw of 19.60 meters.
- Also broke the Jack Christiansen facility record in her final home meet.
- Top throw in the country this season and the only athlete to reach 19 meters, while the mark is the fifth-best in outdoor collegiate history.
WOMEN’S FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
GRACE LANFEAR, COLORADO STATE
Freshman, Boise, Idaho/Boise HS
- Finished third in the 400-meter hurdles and sixth in the 100-meter hurdles at the Doug Max Invitational.
- Ran a personal best 59.48 in the 400-meter hurdles, ranking first among freshman and sixth overall in the MW this season.
MEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
JACOB WHITE, WYOMING
Junior, Littleton, Colorado/Dakota Ridge HS
- Won the 1,500-meter race at the Doug Max Invitational with a time of 3:40.52, breaking the program record set in 1969 by over two seconds.
- The time broke a meet record set in 2021 and was just 0.22 seconds off the facility record set in 1996.
- Fourth-best 1,500 meter time in the MW this season.
MEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
TEXAS TANNER, AIR FORCE
Junior, Sheridan, Wyoming/Sheridan HS
- Collected two first-place finishes at the Doug Max Invitational, winning the hammer throw and the discus throw (51.28 meters).
- His mark of 73.67 meters in the hammer throw set a meet record, bettering the previous mark by six meters.
- Added a third-place finish in the shot put (18.20 meters).
MEN’S FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
NDAYIRAGIJE SHUKURANI, COLORADO STATE
Freshman, Everett, Washington/Everett HS
- Won the high jump at the Doug Max Invitational with a mark of 2.14 meters (7-0.25), the second-best mark in program history.
- Leads the conference in the event and is the only MW athlete to clear seven feet this season.
- Also finished second in the triple jump with his mark of 15.27 meters the best among freshman in the MW.
