COLUMBUS, Ohio (UNLVRebels.com) – Behind par-or-better scores from three players, the UNLV women’s golf team shot a first-round 1-under 287 Monday to stand in a tie for fourth at the NCAA Columbus Regional at the Ohio State University Golf Club Scarlet Course (Par 72, 6,319 yards).
REBEL ROUNDUP: Sophomore Zi Yu Foong paced all Rebels at 2-under 70 as she ended the first 18 holes in a tie for 10th. Adding a pair of even-par 72 scorecards, seniors Mayumi Umezu and Toa Yokoyama are tied for 17th. Following just one shot behind them, seniors Hina Matsui (+1) and McKenzi Hall (+1) began the event in a tie for 28th.
LEADERBOARD: One of only five teams to shoot under par, the Scarlet & Gray only sit behind day-one leader Ohio State at 9-under, Arkansas in second at 6-under and LSU in third at 4-under. The host Buckeyes also saw their own Nellie Ong take the individual lead at 6-under 66.
UP NEXT: UNLV will start things off in Tuesday’s second round with tee times beginning at 5 a.m. PT/8 a.m. ET.
