HOUSTON – The 2025 Credit Union 1 Mountain West Swimming & Diving Championships began today at the University of Houston, with three-time defending champion San Diego State holding the team lead with 184 points after day one. Three events are now complete: the 200-yard medley relay, 1-meter springboard and the 800-yard freestyle relay.  

 

In the 200-yard medley relay, Washington State captured the event title with a time of 1:36.51. San Diego State came in second with a time of 1:36.90, followed by UNLV in third clocking in at 1:37.49. 

 

Nevada’s Bailey Heydra tallied a total of 328.70 points to secure her second Conference title in the 1-meter springboard. In second place, scoring 313.00 points, was San Diego State’s Valentina Lopez Arevalo, followed by Wyoming’s Alicia Gonzalez with 308.30. 

 

In the 800-yard free relay, UNLV came away with a first-place finish, clocking a time of 7:07.06, almost two seconds ahead of second-place San Diego State, which finished with a time of 7:09.04. Nevada rounded out the top three with a time of 7:11.75.

Day-two events are set to begin at 10:30 a.m. CT Thursday, Feb. 20, with the 500-yard freestyle preliminary round followed by the 50-yard free, 200-yard individual medley and 3-meter springboard prelims. Finals begin at approximately 6 p.m. CT in the previously listed order as well as the 400-yard medley relay to finish.
