COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – UNLV senior Toa Yokoyama has been named the Mountain West Women’s Golfer of the Week, while San Diego State rookie Kylie Phi has been selected as the MW Freshman of the Week.
The weekly honor is the third in Yokoyama’s career and first this season. She also earned MW Golfer of the Month honors in September. The weekly honor is the second of Phi’s career and her second straight.
GOLFER OF THE WEEK
TOA YOKOYAMA, UNLV
Senior, Tokyo, Japan IMG Academy/Laurel Spring School
- Shot a 6-under-par 210 at the San Diego State Classic, finishing third in a deep field that included three top-50 teams and 13 players ranked in the top 150.
- Shot a season-best 5-under 67 in the first round, following that with a 1-under 71 and an even-par 72.
- Dropped in a season-best 17 birdies for the tournament.
- Posted her fourth top-10 finish of the 2024-25 campaign and jumped 22 spots in the national rankings to No. 50 after topping six players ranked higher than her.
- Helped UNLV to a runner-up finish behind No. 1 Stanford. It was the Rebels’ fourth top-two finish in five events this season.

KYLIE PHI, SAN DIEGO STATE
Fountain Valley, California/Fountain Valley HS
- Tied for 21st at the San Diego State Classic, the top mark by a MW freshman in the field.
- Shot a 6-over 222, improving her score in each round.
- Opened with a 4-over 76, followed by a 2-over 74 and an even-par 72.
- The 72 was the third-best score of her young collegiate career.
- Tied for the Aztecs’ top finish.
