In an effort to highlight the best of the best in college basketball, the Hall of Fame presents five positional awards given to the best men’s and women’s college players at their respective positions. Established in 2015, the 2025 recipient will be just the 11th person to be awarded the distinction since its inception.
Among past winners, eight have spent time in the NBA, appearing in a combined 2,318 career games (955 starts). Seven of the eight were drafted, including five who were selected with a top 10 pick (Deandre Ayton (2018) and Zion Williamson (2019) were the No. 1 overall picks in their respective drafts).
Last year, San Diego State’s Jaedon LeDee took home the award, marking the first time a Mountain West player was presented with the honor. Starting all 36 games played for the Aztecs during the 2023-24 campaign, LeDee averaged 21.4 points, 8.4 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.2 steals while shooting 56.0 percent from the field.
This year’s midseason top 10 list features players from seven different conferences. The Big East, Big 12 and West Coast Conference have two players each, and the SEC, Big 10, Mountain West and American Athletic Conference all have one.
In his senior campaign, Degenhart has started all 23 games for Boise State, posting averages of 17.7 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 33.0 minutes of game action. He’s shooting 51.6 percent from the field and 80.3 percent at the free throw line.
Comparing resumes of the 2025 top 10 honorees, Degenhart joins Michael Rataj (Oregon State) as the only players averaging at least 17 points while boasting shooting percentages of 50 percent from the field and 80 percent at the charity stripe. He has 22 double-digit scoring performances this season, which is tied for the most among all players represented on the list.
Beginning Friday, fans will have the opportunity to vote for this year’s recipient and can do so by visiting https://www.hoophallawards.com/. In a fluid process where players can be added and removed, the fan vote will narrow down the top 10 list to five finalists.
The final five will be selected in late March and presented to Malone and the selection committee. This year’s winner will be announced during Final Four weekend.
