COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Mountain West announced today its Fall 2024 Esports Players of the Year, as chosen by the 12 head coaches. Boise State’s Matthew “Sprub” Wallace won Player of the Year honors in EA Sports College Football 25. New Mexico’s Tyler “Fossil” Luis has been selected as the Player of the Year in Rocket League. San José State’s Nathan “A Pink DS Lite” Yoakum earned the honor for Street Fighter 6 while fellow Spartan Rayhaan “Koda” Anwar has been selected as the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Player of the Year.

MATTHEW “SPRUB” WALLACE, BOISE STATE

- Won the inaugural MW championship against San José State’s Tanner Yue.

- Team captain for Lobo crew that finished regular season undefeated.
- Contributed to the development of the NMECS (New Mexico Esports Championship Series) which has brought more gamers to Online Rocket League competition in the state of New Mexico.
- Shoutcasted for the New Mexico Activities Association (NMAA) High School State Esports Finals for Rocket League.
- Pursuing a degree in geology.
STREET FIGHTER 6 PLAYER OF THE YEAR
NATHAN “A PINK DS LITE” YOAKUM, SAN JOSÉ STATE

- Won the inaugural MW championship to earn a spot in CECC Spring Playoffs.
- Went 3-0 in the bracket, including two sweeps to win the title.
- Crowned champion of the CFGC SF6 Spring Playoffs.
- Finished fifth out of 77 in the Don’t Park on the Grass tournament earlier in 2024.
- Finished 257th out of more than 5,000 players in EVO 2024, the largest SF6 tournament in the world.
- Pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering.
SUPER SMASH BROS. ULTIMATE PLAYER OF THE YEAR
RAYHAAN “KODA” ANWAR, SAN JOSÉ STATE
Freshman, Fremont, California
- Led San José State back from a 2-1 deficit against Hawai‘i in the Mountain West Championship to win the team title.
- Took five stocks (lives) while only having three, defeating two Hawai‘i players with the match on the line.
- Clinched the championship for the Spartans, taking three stocks while losing none in the final game of the match.
- Helped the Spartans finish the regular season undefeated.
- Pursuing a degree in psychology.
