COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Mountain West announced its Spring 2026 Esports Players and Coaches of the Year, as voted on by the league’s coaches.

San José State’s David “Handy” Sartorio took home League of Legends Player of the Year honors. Air Force’s Hunter “VintageNight” Collins won Overwatch Player of the Year and Boise State’s Peter “skies” Mittelbrun was awarded VALORANT Player of the Year. Coach of the Year honors went to Boise State’s Kelsey Moser for League of Legends and VALORANT and Boise State’s Chris Haskell for Overwatch.

LEAGUE OF LEGENDS PLAYER OF THE YEAR

DAVID “HANDY” SARTORIO, SAN JOSÉ STATE

Freshman, Fremont, California

  • Helped lead San José State to a third-place finish in the regular-season standings and semifinal appearance in the Mountain West playoffs.
  • Walked-on to the Spartans League of Legends team.
  • Improved vastly in only one semester of competition.
  • Most valuable player for SJSU Varsity League of Legends.
  • Pursuing a degree in liberal studies.

OVERWATCH PLAYER OF THE YEAR

HUNTER “VINTAGENIGHT” COLLINS, AIR FORCE

Senior, Tampa, Florida

  • USAFA Overwatch Team Captain and Cadet in Charge of USAFA Esports Club.
  • Four-year varsity player.
  • Secured $50,000 in funding from the USAFA Superintendent to modernize club infrastructure, transforming operations from a single shared computer to a fully equipped multi-team environment.
  • Led acquisition of a dedicated esports facility, replacing a standard classroom and enabling scalable growth for multiple teams and systems.
  • Pursuing a degree in astronautical engineering.

VALORANT PLAYER OF THE YEAR

PETER “SKIES” MITTELBRUN, BOISE STATE

Graduate, San Diego, California

  • Member of Mountain West runner-up roster.
  • Multi-year starter, contributing to Boise State’s consistent presence in national collegiate competition.
  • Won the regional offline qualifier in Denver with Boise State.
  • Vanta Hawai‘i Esports Invitational Champion.
  • Recognized as a top collegiate player at the Allied Esports PEC Championship (Las Vegas).
  • Pursuing his MBA.
