LOGAN, Utah – Senior defender Kaitlyn Richins is an All-American, being named to the Top Drawer Soccer Best XI Third Team. Richins was also ranked No. 29 in the Top Drawer Soccer college national player top 100 rankings.
Richins is the first USU player to earn on-field All-American honors in program history. In 2012, former Aggie player Natalie Norris was named a Senior CLASS All-American, an award which focuses on four areas: community, classroom, character and competition. Norris was also one of two players in program history to earn scholar All-American honors, along with Chandra Salmon-Christensen.
Richins, a native of Layton, Utah, adds this to her long list of accolades after previously being named the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year and a first-team all-region and all-conference honoree in 2024.
This season, Richins transitioned from the Utah State midfield to the defensive center back position, where she anchored one of the top defenses in the country. She started all 24 games for the Aggies, logging over 2,000 minutes on the pitch. USU ranked in the top-10 nationally in goals against average and shutout percentage, allowing just 0.58 goals per contest and posting a program-record 15 shutouts.
Richins also tallied two goals and an assist this season, including the game-winning goal at Utah Valley. In her career, she has totaled 37 starts in 55 games played with three goals and four assists in 3,679 minutes.
