FORT COLLINS – Malaya Jones, the 2024 Mountain West Player of the Year and standout Ram, has made her mark at the national level, earning the first All-American honor of her career with an honorable mention selection by the American Volleyball Coaches Association Wednesday, the AVCA announced.

Teammate Emery Herman was also named as an AVCA All-Region Honorable Mention athlete along with Jones’ All-Region honor earlier this month.

Jones finished the 2024 season helping to lead the Rams to both a Mountain West Regular Season and Tournament Championship while finishing the All-American voting period ranked fifth in the country in total kills at 567, shattering her own single season kills record by more than 100 kills, 12th in kills per set at 4.69, seventh in total points at 640 and 13th in points per set at 5.29.

On top of breaking the single season kill record, Jones also had a standout performance against Boise State, breaking the four-set single-match record for kills at 31. Jones now holds all three single match kills records, setting the three-set and five-set records last season in 2023.

Herman earns the first All-Region honorable mention award of her career after a season of running one of the highest efficient offenses in the country for Colorado State. The Rams finished the season ranking first in the Mountain West in team hitting percentage and fifth in the NCAA at .301. Herman also led the Mountain West and ranked tenth in the country in total assists with 1292 on the season.

This is the first All-American honor for the Rams since Adrianna Culbert earned a third team selection in 2015.
