MW SWIMMING & DIVING ATHLETES OF THE WEEK – NOV. 26

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Washington State junior Emily Lundgren has been tabbed the Mountain West Swimmer of the Week, while teammate Darcy Revitt collected the MW Freshman of the Week nod. San Diego State senior Valentina Lopez Arevalo was selected as the MW Diver of the Week.

 

SWIMMER OF THE WEEK

EMILY LUNDGREN, WASHINGTON STATE

Junior, Chula Vista, California, East Lake HS

  • Helped the Cougars place third at the Art Adamson Invite.
  • Each individual event that she swam was a top 10 all-time Conference rank as well as a season-best.
  • Placed first in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:00.20, which qualifies for an NCAA women’s provisional standard and ranks first in the Conference this season and 10th all-time.
  • Placed first in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:08.16, which set the Conference record and qualifies for an NCAA women’s provisional standard.
  • Placed second in the 100-yard butterfly with a Washington State record time of 52.60, which qualifies for an NCAA women’s provisional standard and ranks first in the Conference this season and seventh all-time.
  • Placed fourth in the 200-yard IM with a time of 1:58.82, qualifying for an NCAA women’s provisional standard and ranks first in the Conference and 10th all-time.
  • Swam legs of the 200 and 400-yard medley relays that placed third and second, respectively.

 

DIVER OF THE WEEK

VALENTINA LOPEZ AREVALO, SAN DIEGO STATE

Senior, Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico/ Colegio de Bachilleres del Estado de Jalisco

  • Helped the Aztecs place second at the Hawkeye Invitational.
  • In the 1-meter springboard, recorded a seventh-place score of 283.65, surpassing the NCAA Diving Zone standard.
  • In the 3-meter springboard, logged a score of 312.30, placing ninth and surpassing the NCAA Diving Zone standard.
  • In the platform, logged a second-place score of 285.000, surpassing the NCAA Diving Zone standard.

 

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

DARCY REVITT, WASHINGTON STATE

Freshman, Guildford, England 

  • Helped the Cougars place third at the Art Adamson Invite.
  • Placed third in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.45, which qualifies for an NCAA provisional standard and ranks second in the Conference.
  • Placed fourth in the 100-yard free with a time of 49.02, ranking second in the Conference and qualifying for an NCAA provisional standard.
  • Placed eighth in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:01.33, which ranks sixth in the Conference.
  • Swam legs of the 200 and 400-yard freestyle relays that both placed second and set school records.
