SAN DIEGO – Boise State women’s soccer advanced to the Mountain West Championship final match following a 3-2 victory over San Diego State, Wednesday night.
Trailing 1-0 at the break, the Broncos (16-3-2) scored three consecutive goals to take control of the match.
San Diego State (9-8-4) scored in the 31st minute, taking the first lead of the game. Grace Goins knocked a goal in after receiving it from a corner kick.
Right out of halftime, Carly Cross managed to squeeze a shot in between two defenders then up and over the San Diego State goalkeeper to even the score at 1-1 in the 48th minute.
Morgan Padour took the lead for Boise State as she shot the ball to the right of the goal in the 69th minute.
Asia Lawyer scored in the 75th minute to extend the Broncos’ lead, firing one in from right outside the top of the box.
San Diego State scored again in the 77th minute when Kali Trevithick made a run into the six-yard box to score from close range, making the final score 3-2.

- The Broncos scored the most goals in a Mountain West Championship match since Nov. 7, 2019 when they defeated New Mexico 6-0.
- This marks the third time this season and the fifth time under head coach Jim Thomas that Boise State won a match after trailing at halftime.
- Boise State will make its fourth appearance in the championship match of the tournament. Its last appearance was in 2021, when the Broncos lost to New Mexico 2-1 in double overtime.
- The Broncos even the tournament series with the Aztecs 3-3. San Diego State still leads the all-time series 11-10.

- The Broncos advanced to the title match of the 2024 Mountain West Championship. Boise State will play Utah State on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. MT in an effort to earn the conference tournament title. The winner between the Broncos and Aggies will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
