BOULDER CITY, Nev. – The Fresno State women’s golf team finished third at the Clash at Boulder Creek, carding a new program low 22-under 842 at Boulder Creek Golf Club. Vunnisa Vu claimed her first collegiate tournament win with a score of 15-under 201.

The team shattered the program’s previous 3-round low of 12-under 852 scored at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown during the 2015-16 season.

“This tournament was a huge boost for us and we will take this intothe off-season to help prepare for spring,” said head coach Lisa Ferrero. “We shattered team scoring records and had personal best scores. It has been a total team effort, and I am very proud of everyone.”

Vu led the ‘Dogs through the final round, shooting 5-under 67. Vu’s 15-under 201 tied the program record for lowest 3-round score, set by teammate Katelyn Lehigh last season.

“Vunnisa has learned so much over the last three semesters and has developed into a great leader for this team,” said Ferrero. “Her dedication, positive attitude, focus on being a supportive teammate, and commitment to learning from each tournament has set her up for success. She worked hard for this moment, and I am so proud of her.”

Amelia Garibaldi finished in the top 15 with a total score of 5-under, after posting a 70 in the third round.

Motoko Shimoji had her best finish of the season, placing 25th at 2-under.

Lehigh finished the tournament at 1-over, while Berglind Erla Baldursdottir, competing as an individual, recorded a score of 6-over. Ashley Tarkanian finished at 16-over.
